tomyriasked same thing 4 months ago09:30
fluxcodehotter, well, 22kHz mono mp3s are probably very rare to begin with. if you just want to play it, perhaps you can convert it to at least stereo..09:31
fluxother than that, well, try low-level tools for playing it?09:32
fluxI don't know if sailfishos comes with any :)09:32
fluxalternative approach: try if qt5 on your desktop is able to play it09:32
Stskeepspaplay? check with wav09:32
fluxI suppose paplay may not play things other than wavs, but you could make verified a 22 kHz mono wav for it09:33

codehotterflux: they are rare for music, but quite common for podcasts, etc.10:03
*** vesurisv has joined #sailfishos10:03
codehotterI'll try converting it to a 22khz mono wav and see what paplay thinks of that10:03
fluxI wouldn't be surprised if there were some trouble in the framework for dealing with music that's not 44 or 48 kHz, or not 16 bit, or not stereo :)10:04
codehotterit is not, however, music. It's speech.10:04
fluxwell, audio10:04
fluxI imagine pulseaudio should be the component that resamples everything incompatible to something compatible for the hardware10:05
fluxor actually I shuold say that this is my current understanding. I wonder if there are exceptions if there is only one active audio source, but it seems doubtful, though there could be some performance benefits to playing 32 kHz sound as 32 kHz instead of resampling it.10:06
sharpneliResampling such a low bandwith signal is really a non issue10:07
*** branek is now known as branek_away10:14
fluxstill takes a few % cpu, no?10:14
sharpneliI'd be surprised if it would go up to even a percent. But it's hard to say how pulseaudio does it.10:15
sharpneliProbably someone has implemented a neon based resampler there10:15
fluxlibsamplerate which my desktop pulseaudio depends on doesn't seem to have any special platform-specific optimizations, but I don't know about jolla10:18
sharpneliDepends on how it's written. It can be relatively generic C that works well with gcc autovectorizer10:19

fzkUmeaboy: i doubt it will come any faster because people keep asking19:55
fzkit will come when it is ready, as everything else19:55
Umeaboyfzk: Yes, but I volonteered to become a tester of Sailfish. Never got any Beta-image.19:57
UmeaboyI use Nightly version of CM so I know what to expect.19:57
UmeaboyThere are key-functions that I care about and thoose I don't.19:57
fzki have not received any for i9305 either19:58
fzktrying to fix it on my n9 instead for time being19:59
UmeaboyOK.19:59
Umeaboyfzk: Since Sailfish would be able to install on any arch in the future I think I'm going to port it to my future TV as well. :)20:00
UmeaboyJust because you lack of a touch-screen doesn't mean that you can't do everything else.20:01
meek_geekhi20:01
Eztranlacking a touchscreen is pretty important on a gesture-oriented mobile OS, surely?20:01
fzkyou need the qt5 or?20:01

EztranAndroid's considerably less gesture-heavy.20:16
EztranI'm not saying it'd be unusable or anything, but probably trickier to navigate?20:17

lluixhiHello, if I wanted to try out sailfishos on the Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-i9305, where could I get an image?20:31
fzkyoull have to wait, early adopters get it first..?20:33
fzkEztran: sure, the linux kernel has a ton of support for hw, but i suspect the tv-market is as you say, undocumented and not very well reverse-enginered20:34
lluixhiAh, okay. Is there any way to become and early adopter?20:34
Nicd-lluixhi: /msg sledges with your email, devices and why you want to be an ea20:34
fzki think someone involved with the dev of sailfish could give info on that20:34
fzk^ ah, there20:34

UmeaboyEven thou it's quite old.20:41
Umeaboy:)20:41
lluixhiUmeaboy: I was running the CM Nightly on it, and I'm now using an unofficial version of Slimkat20:41
UmeaboyJust looking for a replacement OS for it.20:41
fzkUmeaboy: i have serial access to mine20:41
fzkand it runs linux20:41
Umeaboyfzk: Same here. ;)20:41
UmeaboyAnd Linux is just the kernel.20:41
fzki never said anything about userland20:42
UmeaboyI'm looking to replace the RELEASE-binary to make the system support more codecs.20:42
UmeaboyTo delete functions that I don't need.20:42
fzksome tvs actually have custom firmwares for that20:42
Umeaboyfzk: Yes, but currently mine is just a wrapper around the RELEASE-binary.20:43
fzkbut i doubt its actively developed, they should standardize tv hw20:43
fzkUmeaboy: well, that would make it less hazzle20:43
*** piggz__ has quit IRC20:44
fzkmy solution to that was to run all my media on my boxeebox+xbmc(even if i dont like xbmc much)20:44
fzkworks fairly well tbh20:44

fzkis there any foss tv available?20:45
UmeaboyYes, of course, but my goal isn't to have MORE devices in my home. The goal is to do what I like with the once that I already have.20:47
UmeaboyTo buy something more is the last solution for me and then I'd buy a new TV.20:47
UmeaboyI'm looking on one right now.20:47

keithzgI honestly have been just using a raspberry pi for XBMC, since I'm launching and controlling via a remote the GUI sluggishness isn't an issue at all . . . if you have ANY spare hardware around your house, it likely will work fine as an XBMC box. Which I personally find waaaay better than any (hacked or stock) Smart TV UI/UX.21:06
