IngvixDoes anyone know a good way to stream music from a server to jolla?10:40
Siddeuse an http server with mp3 files in a directory?10:42
Siddemaybe even m3u works for playlists. Don't know if the browser handles m3u though10:42
YanielI think the builtin media player can do m3u playlists that point at streams10:43
bafferI used mpd with http output and listened to the output stream with a browser10:46
bafferevery now and then I had to refresh the stream though10:46
bafferit became annoying and I don't do it anymore10:47
IngvixI just installed mpd yesterday but I sort of misunderstood the meaning of it as I thought smpc app would actually play the tracks to the phone10:47
Ingvixbaffer, does the stream play even if the browser is not active/screen is off?10:48
Yanielsmpc is just a remote control10:48
bafferIngvix: yes it does10:48
Ingvixyes, I noticed that10:48
Ingvixguess I could try it for fun but maybe look for more stable resolution10:50
IngvixSidde, should they be played in browser or mounting the directory to jolla? I'm still not all clear on all the possibilities of http10:52
SiddeIngvix: play in the browser. just like opening any webpage10:52
SiddeIngvix: the built in media player in the browser plays the mp3/m3u10:53
Sidderemebering that 15 years ago it existed pretty good http media browsing software10:54
Siddeopen source stuff. Maybe something is still around10:54
IngvixSidde, oh, so I need to add that sort of software to my server for it to work?10:55
Siddei normally listens to podcasts just by browsing up the mp3 file10:55
SiddeIngvix: no, not really. Depending on how complex you want to do stuff10:55
SiddeIngvix: if you put an mp3 file on a http server. The browser will play it10:55
Siddeand i assume that it will handle m3u files for playlists or streams as well10:56
Siddebut you could also do it as Yaniel said. Use the media player to play the m3u file10:56
Nicd-I have all my music on my server viewable with nginx's directory listings. problem is most of them are Apple Lossless so they can't be played :(10:56
SiddeNicd-: do some backend magic and convert them realtime if the user agent is matched ;)10:57
Nicd-heh. I just wish devices had the Apple Lossless codec10:57
Nicd-I actually have an MP3 player and lossless files are converted to AAC on the fly when they are synced there10:58
IngvixHow can I play http streams from media player?10:58
SiddeIngvix: create an m3u file with a http url parameter11:00
Siddebut this i have not tried11:00
IngvixI'm guessing that without playlist or additional software on the server it only plays one file at the time in browser11:00
IngvixI think I just start trying stuff and see where it goes11:00
SiddeIngvix: yes, but i'm guessing there has to be scripts or software that can create m3u files of contents of a directory11:00
Siddem3u files are pretty simple so it could be scripted pretty easily11:01
Siddea simple file indexer with creating m3u files on the fly would be pretty easy to create. Especially if it's only a private http server so security can be "avoided"11:03
SiddeSo if you're not good at scripting/programming it could be a very useful exercise too11:04

Siddebut to start. Just upload 1 mp3 on the http server and try it out. Then manuelly create an m3u file, download it and open it from the media player11:09
Siddeseems to exist a whole lot of php m3u generating scripts out there11:11
Siddeand probably a lot of php music libraries aswell11:12
abransonlast time i tried the sf media player wasn't great with m3u files11:13
abransoni have a little perl website that indexes http browsable directories, then lets you search the results and get m3u files out.11:14
Siddeabranson: that's the way i would do it too11:14
abransoni don't think it liked the m3u files with http urls, but i don't quite remember11:14

Ingvixbrowser's media player seems to try to play m3u-file as a video11:56
abransonmust be using the gallery instead of the music app?11:57
Ingvixprobably11:58
abransonyou can pass an m3u to the jolla-mediaplayer and it sort of works. playlist gets added anyway, and you can play and skip the tracks. maybe we should change the associated app over.12:03
Ingvixshould the location of the file in the m3u-file be just like "https://mysite.com/music/file.mp3?12:04

IngvixIt's a bit sad that there's no way of getting the artist of a song to show where it should if a playlist is streamed to media player. Media player won't read the mp3tags from streamed songs and at least I couldn't find a way to add artist names to m3u file. They are only noted as a part of the title19:33

louisdkI'm transferring files over SSH from Jolla 1 to C and a few seconds after the screen goes off the phone goes into suspend mode and my SCP session freezes until I wake my phone up by double tapping the screen.19:37
r0kk3rzlouisdk: thats normal19:45
louisdkr0kk3rz: why isn't the phone configured to not to into such deep suspend when an operation is in action?19:47
kimmolilouisdk: i use mcetool -Ddim19:50
kimmolissh should be patched with libiphb/nemokeepalive then19:51
