N-Mimy phone (Jolla 1) rebooted unexpectedly during a btrfs balance, and went into boot loop10:44
N-Mitried to repair filesystem in recovery mode, did'nt work10:44
sobukusN-Mi: Hm, if all fails, you may have to flash a recovery image.10:44
N-Mitried factory reset, stuck at "Mounting /dev/mmcblk0p28 on /mnt" step10:45
sobukusI had to do that after the camera app trashed my system partition.10:45
N-Misobukus: where do I find the recovery image ?10:45
sobukusN-Mi: That's the hard part … you don't officially. Someone in this very channel pointed me to a download …10:45
N-Miok, that's what I partly understood after doing a search on TJC10:46
sobukusImportant is to only deal with partition 28 and not to screw the numerous other ones.10:47
N-Miyep, didn't mess with other partitions10:47

N-Miyesterday evening, I was unable to download last early access update (it was not able to connect to remote server, tried also to restart the network from utility menu, other devices on my LAN were working fine). But then I crashed my phone because of a BTRFS issue, so maybe the issue was also on my side11:23

sobukusEh. Can someone please confirm that the Jolla 1 really produces (close to) 30 fps video?11:52
sobukusKdenlive keeps telling me that the video is 25.214 fps.11:52
sobukusMPlayer says 29.917 fps.11:52
sobukusFFplay says 25.21.11:53

sobukusWTF? Mediainfo says this: Frame rate mode Variable, Frame rate 25.214, Minimum frame rate 0.305, Maximum frame rate 750.000/12:14
sobukusHow to deal with _such_ a video? Frame rate spread between 0.305 and 750. I guess that is a result of the choppy recording.12:15
sobukusDoes anyone have a Jolla-recorded (old) video that has a proper frame rate?12:15

*** Xeno_PL <Xeno_PL!~Xeno@178-36-255-86.adsl.inetia.pl> has joined #jollamobile12:19
fennekkithe minimum frame rate suggests the longest frame that spans 3.3 seconds and the shortest frame spans 40 milliseconds12:19
fennekkiit's the same concept as variable bitrate which you might have encountered in audio encoding. If the data doesn't change for three seconds encoding more than one frame is a waste of space12:20
fennekkioh no sorry I read that wrong. The maximum frame rate seems like a weird value12:20

Nicd-fennekki: but when does the data not change for 3.3 seconds? sensor noise makes that impossible12:23
larstiqNicd-: broken sensor12:24
fennekkiunless there was no sensor input for 3 seconds12:24
Nicd-larstiq: you'd see that clearly in the video though. nothing like that was mentioned12:25
fennekkiit's also possible that just straight up shows wrong values12:25
fennekkiit's kinda hard to tell what logic mediainfo uses to pick up those numbers especially with that absurd maximum frame rate12:25

Nicd-my guess is some part of the pipeline just can't keep up (maybe new gstreamer?) and it drops frames12:59
sobukusMaybe that is a major symptom already … I dug out an old Russian demo video of the Jolla from Youtube … that seems to have straight 30 fps.12:59
Nicd-my N900 used to have the same feature13:00
sobukusNicd-: My question now was what frame rate I have to force it to to be able to _somehow_ use at least pieces of that video.13:00
sobukusAnd it seems that 30 fps is what the Jolla aimed for.13:00
Nicd-Jolla is proudly carrying the trend of its forefathers :D13:01
sobukusWonderful.13:01
Nicd-sobukus: if the video is broken I don't know if you can do anything in the viewer13:01
Nicd-but I don't have too much knowledge about that13:01
sobukusNicd-: I'm trying to cut scenes of that video together with another one that has proper fps (well, 29.997) … right now I was only wondering if I have to interpolate frames or can just force 30 fps and make the right cuts.13:02
Nicd-if there really are no frames you'd have to interpolate to make it look smooth13:02
sobukusThat being said … perhaps I'd have to write a program that detects abnormal fps and extracts the scenes that are somewhat smooth.13:03
sobukusI'll cut out the really bad parts.13:03
Nicd-ever thought of switching phones? :P13:03
sobukusMy plan for the future, if this really embarrassing thing cannot be resolved, is to purchase another Raspberry pi with the camera. That one does smooth h264 in hardware.13:04
sobukusDoesn't record audio, though.13:04
Nicd-why not buy a video camera?13:05
Nicd-what are you doing?13:05
sobukus"proper" camcorders can have other issues … will I get one that properly splits video files on FAT32 SD card?13:05
sobukusNicd-: I'm recording live performance of a band … without a budget.13:06
Nicd-why do you want a FAT32 SD card btw?13:06
sobukusThought I got that 300 € camera in my pocket.13:06
sobukusNicd-: I don't. That is why I was relieved once the Jolla supported writing video to ext4-formatted SD card.13:06
sobukusBut if I buy a video camera, that will defintely not support ext4 SD cards.13:06
Nicd-you can read NTFS and ExFAT on linux too13:07
sobukusI actually have a camera that can do nice videos … but is limited to 25 minutes a piece!13:07
sobukusIs exfat allowed nowadays? I though it was patent-infested and didn't bother investigating anything further.13:07
sobukusThe Jolla also can work while connected to a powerbank. My Casio camera can either charge via USB _or_ record video.13:08
sobukusI wanted to stay clear of that crap. Hence, a small computer like the Raspi is my next choice.13:09
larstiqsobukus: is your 0.305-750.000 fps video shareable?13:09
sobukusI might be game for an action cam that _doesn't_ have 170 degree fisheye lens.13:09
sobukuslarstiq: I can make a really dull uninteresting shareable video right on teh spot. Any small test video "features" the variable fps.13:10
larstiqsobukus: sure13:10

sobukusI have to wonder … is this a misguided feature? Not in this extreme way, but generally the option of variable frame rate at all?13:30

AL13Ni kinda need some help with my first sailfishos app: https://github.com/alien999999999/harbour-followme ; when browing the second plugin, i get segfault, also, it seems qmlscene shows more functionality than using sailfish-qml22:30
AL13Nany pointers are appreciated22:30
tadziksegfault in a python app, that's something22:31
tadzik...also, there's sailfish-qml, as in, qmlscene that supports silica?22:31
AL13Nwell, it's more qml with some python inside22:32
AL13Nwell, basically, i see that modrana was started with "Exec=sailfish-qml harbour-modrana" , since i have no main thing in c or python, i figured this approach was better22:33
AL13Nbut i've been testing normally with qmlscene; and that seemed to do more than starting it via an icon on the device itself22:33
AL13N"though still segfault"22:34
AL13Nthe segfault comes after some QThread resources warning... so22:34
tadzikah, I guess that is what you do when you write python apps, that makes sense22:34
AL13Ntadzik: i figure i do alot of stuff in a roundabout way probably, any app developer can probably tell me where i've done some stupid things22:34
tadzikI should try that, I don't like python but I hate JS :)22:35
AL13Ntadzik: actually, the only python i use is for local file IO22:35
AL13Nit's mostly qml22:35
tadziknodnod22:35
r0kk3rzAL13N: any idea where the issue might be?22:35
tadzikso when in QML does the segfault occur?22:36
tadzikentering a particular page?22:36
ballockcehteh: larstiq: weird, I am 100% sure f2fs went into l500d/jollac/aquafish. Which sfos release is that?22:36
AL13Nr0kk3rz: well, at start pulldown, choose browse22:36
AL13Nthen you get 2 plugins22:36
AL13None of them click and it works (after some time) and the other not and crashes22:36
AL13Ni suspect the one is slightly larger in file response (i'm using xhr to fetch stuff)22:37
* tadzik guesses https://github.com/alien999999999/harbour-followme/blob/master/qml/pages/ProviderPage.qml#L3922:37
tadzikwhere is SearchProviderPage.qml?22:37
AL13Nbeen exclusively developing on jolla phone22:37
AL13Ntadzik: not there yet22:37

tadzikthat's not the point in the program where the crash occurs?22:38
AL13Nno22:38
tadzikhttps://github.com/alien999999999/harbour-followme/blob/master/qml/pages/AddEntryPage.qml#L37 then, I assume22:39
AL13Nnot Search, choose Browse in pulldown22:39
AL13Nwell, this is the page and it works and should give you 2 entries22:39
tadzikright. Sorry, not running it yet, just trying to follow the code :)22:39
AL13Nclicking on 1 works, the 2nd doesn't22:39
AL13Nboth are going to ProviderPage.qml22:39
AL13Nsomewhere in the components/Fetch it probably goes wrong22:40
AL13Nif you exec on a jolla you'll probably see what i mean22:40
r0kk3rzAL13N: im not sure the way you access the model on the delegate is right22:40
* AL13N neither22:41
r0kk3rzyou shouldnt need to bind it to a property like that22:41
AL13Nr0kk3rz: first app, so i donno what the hell i'm doing22:41
r0kk3rzits a delegate22:41
AL13Ni've not been using ListModel (but just regular Array of Object) as model, because ListModel seems to do weird crap wrt regular Objects as properties, it doesn't like it. downside is that i need to do the sync, which i do by resetting the model to the Array, which triggers the change... :-S22:43
tadzikheh, updating the model I've found to always be a PITA22:43
tadzikunless you're doing something trivial22:43
AL13Ni didn't want to just for model purposes do some C++ Model classes22:44
tadziknah, shouldn't be necessary22:44
*** XenoPL <XenoPL!~Xeno@178-36-255-86.adsl.inetia.pl> has joined #jollamobile22:44
AL13Nanyway, for the most part the app already works, now i can follow my comics and read the next chapter etc...22:45
AL13Npredownload X chapters and such22:45
AL13Nand check updates22:45
tadziksweet22:45
tadzikI should get around to fixing my geocaching app22:46
AL13Nin regards to the segfault, i added (manually) a comic from the second plugin and now i can follow that one too, i just cannot browse the comic list from the second plugin...22:46
AL13Nplan was to do way more comic plugins and manga too, etc...22:46
AL13Ni suspect it's some kind of resource drain i'm doing22:47
AL13Nr0kk3rz: i donno what the hell i'm doing, so any pointers are cool22:47
AL13N(i just hope no other application exists that's called FollowMe)22:48
r0kk3rzyour provider property in the listview delegate, i think thats probably doing it, some array reference error or something22:48
AL13Nyou mean https://github.com/alien999999999/harbour-followme/blob/master/qml/pages/ProviderPage.qml#L39 ?22:50
AL13Ncause that can't be it, i'm not doing Search yet22:50
r0kk3rzhttps://github.com/alien999999999/harbour-followme/blob/master/qml/pages/AddEntryPage.qml#L2622:51
AL13Nit's probably more something like this: https://github.com/alien999999999/harbour-followme/blob/master/qml/pages/ProviderPage.qml#L10022:52
AL13Nr0kk3rz: ok22:52
AL13Nr0kk3rz: so what do i need to do here?22:52
ballockcehteh: just checked on 2.0.5.4, jollaC, f2fs is in there22:53
r0kk3rzAL13N: im not sure of the contents of your model, but you should have direct access to the item without doing that in the delegate22:54
AL13Nhmm, ok, i found it, if in the Fetch on https://github.com/alien999999999/harbour-followme/blob/master/qml/pages/ProviderPage.qml#L100 i removed the onReceived and instead fill the model only once in the onFinished, then it works...22:56
AL13Ni think the constant switching/updating of the model is crapping stuff out22:56
Liekeballock: i think they were talking about jolla122:56
AL13Nr0kk3rz: i guess i'm sort of using it like a shortcut...22:57
r0kk3rzAL13N: yeah i get what you're doing, its just kinda weird22:57
AL13Nok, in any case, i fixed the biggest problem (and committed)22:59
AL13Nbut still, this app is not good at all (yet)23:00
AL13Nso any pointers or pull-requests or whatnot is ok23:00
