dragonchasermorning, I just updated to 3.4.0.22. After update I just get a blank black screen and a single android notification (signal). It seems like the fingerprint login does work I can feel the vibration motor react once but interaction with the screen is not possible. any ideas?05:48
dragonchaseris there a rescue mode so I can take a look at the logs?05:49
dragonchasernow I see the screen to put it the systempassword & sim pin afterwards same issue...05:51
dragonchaserI can access the pulldown menu during pin entry if I try to go to settings from there, I get the black screen again06:01
patollmal:  pkcon download. ssu does propose to solve between source and arm7hl conflicting packages. The version corresponds to the 3.4 upgrade06:25
patollmal: I selected arm7hl and it seems to have performed the process without issues.06:38
dragonchaserI can boot into recovery mode, removed patchmanager and wifikiller (which seemed problematic) no change :/06:44

patollmal: any pointer on what to do next to use the cache and finish the upgrade?09:11
malpatoll: is the the same issue still there?09:20
malafter installing ssu rpms manually09:21
malpatoll: also try to download rpm for ssu-vendor-data-jolla and install that manually also09:22
patollThanks. Version--dup is actually now refreshing successfully. Let's see if it finishes 😁09:25
patollmal: arf error: no distribution upgrade available09:29
patollI'll try ssu-vendor-data-jolla after it finishes trying09:30
patollWould be nice to stop it retrying as it takes ages and wants to retry 9 times 😑09:31
maltry installing zypper and then running zypper ref and then zypper dup09:33
patollmal: oh, actually it worked with the second try. I could complete the version dup and reboot. SFOS is quite resilient (when you know how to deal with it). Thanks a lot09:51
patollmal: for info I did another version dup after rebooting and it found further updates. The third version dup did not find available updates09:52
malok, so it boot successfully now?09:54
malpatoll: did you have any post on forums, if you did please report the fix there09:55
malthis thread might be relevant one https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/the-screen-goes-black-and-thats-it/228209:56
patollOK I will post and yes it boots to 3.409:58

Mister_Magisterjolla what the hell are you doing11:42
Nico[m]Huh, why?11:44
Mister_Magister>copying android look 1:111:44
Nico[m]You mean for the email stuff?11:44
Mister_Magisternot only that but yes11:47
Nico[m]I don't know of any other places where they copied stuff recently?11:47
Mister_Magistertop menu, dialer, clock app11:48
Nico[m]Huh, I'm not familiar enough with android to see the resemblance, I guess?11:50
Mister_Magister>not following their own guide lines11:50
Mister_Magistertop menu is completelly ripped off of andorind11:50
Nico[m]Didn't the N9 also have a menu up there? And iOS has one too, which all look pretty similar11:53
Mister_Magistermenu itself isn't issue12:08
Mister_Magisterit looks is the issue12:08
Nico[m]Do you have a design that works better in mind?12:09
Mister_Magistersure, use silica12:09
Mister_Magisterand sailfishos guidelines12:10
Mister_Magisterguess who made them, that's right jolla12:10
Mister_Magisterguess who ignores them, that's right also jolla12:10
Nico[m]I don't think that does apply to global stuff12:10
Mister_Magisterit does12:10
Nico[m]Like the application launcher also doesn't follow the guidelines, or the news feed12:10
Mister_Magisterthey're12:10
Mister_Magisternews uses section header and guidelines padding/text formatting12:11
Mister_Magisterand app launcher is just grid12:12
Nico[m]The top menu uses the same grid as the app launcher12:12
Mister_Magisterno, no it doesn't12:13
Mister_Magisterit's ripped off of android12:13
Mister_Magisterlook at the 2.0 top menu for comparison12:13
Nico[m]On my device both grids look exactly the same12:13
Mister_Magisternope12:13
Mister_Magisterapp icons don't have circle background behind them12:14
Nico[m]Well, yeah, they are also not toggles12:14
Mister_Magisterand the toggles in top menu follow android guidelines instead of sfos guidelines12:15
Nico[m]Well, the sailfish guidelines are not really compact enough for such a menu12:15
Mister_Magisteryes they are12:16
Mister_Magisterlook at 2.012:16
Mister_Magisterthey could use silica slider but why better make android looking one12:16
Mister_Magisterthey could keep using silica toggle button but why better use android one12:17
rubdosabranson: rockpool (from openrepos) doesn't seem to run on the new 'n' fancy early-access release. libquazip.so.1 is missing.  Would you mind pushing a new build some day in the future?12:22
rubdos(seems like it just needs a rebuild)12:22
abransonah yes, that's needed now12:22
abransonthanks for the reminder...12:22
rubdosI had no clue I was to remind you, but there you go, happy to help :'-)12:22
rubdosOut of curiosity: are you still sporting a Pebble, abranson?12:27
abransonno no, reminding me wasn't on you. but i'm glad someone did because I'd forgotten.12:28
abransonyes my pebble time steel is still on my wrist right now12:28
rubdosAh good. As long as you are wearing one, I can safely assume that rockpool will keep on working. hehe12:31
rubdosMy Pebble time is also still here, and I got new watch... locks? ... in the mail today for my Pebble Steel12:32
rubdosstrap closure? Dunno how they're called. But I'll have a new strap for the Steel soon™12:33
pucilpetI guess there's no functional app for matrix yet on sailfishos? if we get that I wouldn't need android support daily. I know there's one in the works (bluepill) but WIP I guess12:46
Nico[m]One day I will have time to finish my client, one day :D12:47
pucilpet🤣12:48
abransonrubdos: i switched the strap to one of those magnetic milanese ones. it's much better.12:58
rubdospucilpet: yeh, bluepill is WIP, but it's at least progressing faster than my Whisperfish fork.13:16
rubdosIt helps that they have a good service library in non-Java-or-Swift.13:17
rubdosabranson: compared to the silicone one then?13:17
pucilpetYes, it's an interesting project.13:17
rubdosOr doesn't the PTS have a silicone one?13:18
abransonrubdos: my orig pebble had silicon. I think the PTS came with a leather one maybe. anyway that broke so i went with the milanese and that's been great. very adjustable.13:18
rubdoscool!13:19
rubdosMy PS had a leather one, but that's worn to hell (bought it like that)13:19
rubdosmy PT has a silicone, that's actually in very good condition. Bought it from a smoker though, people closer than 5m thought I started smoking.13:19
rubdosWas like that for a week... Even after using vinegar and detergent13:20
rubdosI'll keep an eye on that milanese thing, looks interesting indeed13:20
thigg[m]Did anyone do experiment with native images from e.g. java applications via graalvm on sailfishos?15:35
