jpetrellok lets start08:04
jpetrelldcaliste: chriadam said he has created PR with the things you need, and that we should discuss whether the proto API is sufficient08:04
dcaliste_Yes, I'm working on implementing a pinentry based on this.08:04
dcaliste_See my pinentry branch in sailfish-secret in github.08:05
jpetrellI haven't tested the email signing proto yet, but will try to before the next meeting08:05
dcaliste_Ok, good.08:05
chriadam_dcaliste_: I will integrate the authentication plugins from andrew after I rebase them08:06
chriadam_jpetrell: is the passwordagent in devel?08:06
chriadam_i.e. can I test it on device now, or do I need some feature project from obs?08:06
dcaliste_Rainemak, may I ask you to review the latest MR for gpgme when you have time? Gitlab is 502 now I cannot give you the link.08:07
dcaliste_This MR is about providing the right 2.0.4 version on config line.08:07
dcaliste_And also about switching to submodule.08:08
rainemakdcaliste_, yeah... was that only about patching it a bit08:08
rainemakdcaliste_, will read08:08
dcaliste_Thank you.08:08
jpetrellchriadam_: I don't know. I tried denexter's 3rd party password dialog before I left for holiday and gave comments, but afaik everything lives in branches08:08
dcaliste_Before the configure was declaring 2.0.9 which was creating issues for some action, saying that minimum version was not met.08:09
chriadam_jpetrell: ok.  well I will rebase and merge into sailfish-secrets, then ask andrew what I need aside from that08:09
jpetrellI'll ping our legal once again, didn't get the contribution agreement yet08:09
dcaliste_jpetrell, ok good. My boss is on vacation, I had no opportunity to discuss with him yet.08:09
dcaliste_Besides, I've pushed a WIP MR in github for S/MIME signing and checking.08:10
dcaliste_I'm going to test it after pinentry is working.08:10
jpetrellchriadam_: I should try the latest version to speed up the integration. current devel is quite far from release anyhow and nothing uses the password agent initially so maybe we could merge it early08:11
dcaliste_About the pinentry and sailfish-secrets, I've three questions for chriadam_.08:11
dcaliste_Will ask after this meeting is over I guess.08:11
chriadam_now or later, either suits me :-)08:12
jpetrellI don't have much to discuss, like said was on holiday last week, feel free to continue with sailfish-secrets08:12
dcaliste_Ok. jpetrell, don't hesitate to contact me if necessary when following the todo I wrote in OBS.08:13
dcaliste_There are many pieces to put together!08:13
chriadam_thanks for sending those instructions through.  I haven't had a chance to try yet either, maybe will next week.  hopefully jpetrell does soon08:14
dcaliste_chriadam_, first simple remark: when daemon is unreachable, DBUS requests are aborting but status is Succeeded anyway, because this is the default value in constructor and this value seems to be unchanged in that specific case. What do you think?08:15
*** urjaman <urjaman!~urjaman@unaffiliated/urjaman> has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)08:15

chriadam_dcaliste_: definitely a bug.08:16
*** urjaman <urjaman!~urjaman@unaffiliated/urjaman> has joined #sailfishos08:16
dcaliste_jpetrell, don't hesitate, during work hours, I'm not always on IRC, ping me by mail damien D caliste A cea.fr you'll have more chances to reach me.08:17
chriadam_jpetrell is in the midst of MWC preparation at the moment, so not sure if he'll get a chance to test it this week either :-/08:18
dcaliste_chriadam_: I looked at the code, but didn't spot the issue location, so I'm just reporting ;)08:18
chriadam_so most likely early next week, would be my guess08:18
jpetrellchriadam_: I am thinking monday08:18
chriadam_dcaliste_: yep, thanks, I'll try to figure out where/why08:18
dcaliste_About testing, it doesn't matter if it's not this week, I still have work to do integrating the pinentry and testing the S/MIME plugin.08:19
dcaliste_chriadam_: second question, SecretManager() is created by default with async initialisation, but this initialisation is not implemented yet. Will it be in the near future? Otherwise the code snippets in the doc should be updated to declare SecretManager(Sync) instead of SecretManager().08:21
chriadam_I need to implement async initialisation08:21
chriadam_the default should probably be the "no initialisation required" one though08:21
dcaliste_And last question: how to inquire if a collection exists?08:21
chriadam_"initialisation" is just "get plugin info" and most clients don't need plugin info08:21
dcaliste_I mean, I'm doing a StoreSecretRequest("data", "collection")08:22
dcaliste_But the daemon complains that the "collection" does not exist.08:22
chriadam_we may need a CollectionQueryRequest or something where we get some metadata about the collection (or error if doesn't exist)08:23
dcaliste_Do CreateCollectionRequest() do nothing if collection already exists?08:23
chriadam_probably returns error if the collection already exists08:23
*** hoonetorg <hoonetorg!~hoonetorg@77.119.226.254.static.drei.at> has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)08:24
chriadam_(but yes, does nothing to the data)08:24
chriadam_I would assume08:24
chriadam_unit test coverage is quite poor at the moment, so what it does in practice...08:24
dcaliste_If you want, you can look at https://github.com/dcaliste/sailfish-secrets/blob/pinentry/plugins/gnupgplugin/qassuanserver.cpp from line 345.08:25
dcaliste_(I know this is not the right place to put this, but anyway, I move it later).08:26
dcaliste_There are roughly 80 lines where I'm using the new request API.08:26
dcaliste_You may comment on how I'm using it.08:27
dcaliste_Globally, it's easy to use IMHO.08:27
dcaliste_Still need to add that collection exists at the initialisation though.08:28
chriadam_waitForFinished() may have strange effects.  I believe internally, QDBusPendingReply::waitForFinished() will "seem" synchronous, but if the QDBusConnection uses something like QDBus::BlockWithGui then other events will be processed...08:29
chriadam_also, where is the collection created?08:30
dcaliste_The collection is not created yet!08:30
chriadam_do you use an sqlcipher database?  in the future, I'm considering making "collection name" a synonym for "database file name" but not sure yet, need to talk to an expert08:30
dcaliste_I found yesterday that I need to create the collection first but didn't had time to do it. And I wanted to ask you about the inquire possibility.08:31
chriadam_indeed.  I will add the collection query request08:31
chriadam_you also need to specify an identifier in the "pin" secret08:31
chriadam_for where you "want" it to go08:32
chriadam_e.g. pin.setIdentifier("myGpgPin", "GpgCollection")08:32
dcaliste_About the pseudo sync action of waitForFinished(), this code is running in a thread, without GUI, so I don't care (I guess).08:32
chriadam_or I guess, setIdentifier(cacheId)08:32
chriadam_dcaliste_: cool, hopefully it will work without problems in that threaded case then08:33
dcaliste_the identifier is a private attribute caheId.08:33
chriadam_qtdbus with peer to peer connections in 5.6.x had some quirks, so let's see in practice ;-)08:33
dcaliste_One last remark, though is about the possibility to ask for the secret without storing it.08:33
dcaliste_You may see that cacheId may be invalid if GPG doesn't want the passpharse to be stored.08:34

chriadam_dcaliste_: I need to add an InteractionRequest type08:34
dcaliste_In that scenario, I'm creating a temporary secret, request it, and then delete it, which is suboptimal!08:35
chriadam_yes08:35
chriadam_it's a "strange" use case because most applications could just ask the user directly for input.  but daemons like this one cannot.08:35
dcaliste_Besides, I'm quite happy with the API, the pinentry specific implementation lies within 100 lines of code.08:35
dcaliste_Yes, it's due to the fact that gpg-agent acts as a daemon.08:36
chriadam_the API will continue to evolve a bit I suspect, but not too much I guess08:36
dcaliste_Much later, if GPLv3 licensing restriction is raised and we go to the latest version, we can use upstream opinentry code and just add these 100 lines of code.08:37
chriadam_I can't give an eta on when I'll have added those two request types - hopefully by Friday but no promise08:37
dcaliste_No hurry, I almost can test it now with current limitations, just need the code from Andrew to show a system passphrase request.08:38
chriadam_:-)08:39
chriadam_anyway, good that we have at least some validation that the API is useful :-)08:40
chriadam_thanks for your feedback and pointing out those lacks!  great appreciated08:41

chriadam_greatly*08:41
dcaliste_Well that's great work from your side, I'm just wondering why it didn't go under nemo? I guess a bit of branding promotion for Sailfish!08:43
chriadam_there was a lot of confusion around what mer and sfos and nemo were08:44
dcaliste_Anyway, I'm happy about the outcome of this work around GnuPG in Sailfish.08:44
chriadam_my understanding is that we wanted to reduce that confusion, and increase the amount of new core components which were opensourced08:44
chriadam_plus, code previously in nemo often polluted global namespace and did other suboptimal things08:45
chriadam_shrug08:46
chriadam_anyway, hopefully we get a chance to test the stuff you've done, over the next 7 days after this MWC rush is over ;-)08:46
dcaliste_When up and running, some promotion should be done in the direction of other possible users like LuneOS…08:46
chriadam_yes, we should definitely try to do our best to make sure the components are seen as open and not proprietary08:47
dcaliste_About the testing I wish you won't be afraid by the totally amateurish style of the UI process… It's just a proof of concept for the MQF plugins.08:47
chriadam_and encourage adoption by and contribution from other projects08:47
r0kk3rzim sure the plasma guys would be interested08:47
chriadam_dcaliste_: I will definitely not be put off08:47
chriadam_you obviously haven't seen the unit test UI.  red rectangles ftw.08:48

chriadam_r0kk3rz: do you know any crypto experts who would have time to help review some code? ;-)08:48
r0kk3rzhmmm, not really08:49
r0kk3rzcrypto scares a lot of people off learning...08:49
chriadam_it certainly scares me08:49
chriadam_fortunately, pretty much all of the heavy lifting is done by plugins, so as long as the plugin implementor does the right thing, it should be ok08:50

leszekany help for fixing the incompatible qt version after upgrading on jolla c would be nice. Lipstick isn't coming up. ssu ur worked fine ssu lr shows the correct repos. Though zypper ref does not work on all jolla repos. Only the user specified ones work. Qt 5.6.2 packages installed are the same as on the working jolla 1. I compared qt 5.6.3 packages which seem to be also all installed. Still no wayland compositor15:56
leszekand stuck on jolla + sailfishos logo on restart15:56

leszekr0kk3rz: I checked the packages Jolla1 working has the same 5.6.2 packages as JollaC which isn't working16:01
leszekI also ldd'ed /usr/bin/lipstick and checked one by one every .so file it lists that has something to do with qt. All looks totally ok to me16:02
pvuorelacould be also something using qt private not updated and still requiring qtbase 5.6.216:02
leszekpvuorela: how do I figure that out16:03
pvuorelaif it's lipstick not coming up, candidates are qtwayland and lipstick at least.16:03
leszekI checked the lipstick packages they show the same version number on jolla1 and jollac16:04
leszeklet me check wayland stuff16:04

leszekok got the file. And installing it I still get the error that qt 5.6.2 vs. qt 5.6.317:06
